Day 4 of Chicago Grit Started things off with a little love from @1stphorm We not only love their products, but the people behind the brand too. They’re keeping us fueled through all 10 days of Grit.
On the racing side, Jake moved up another spot and now sits 3rd overall in the Cat 2 Omnium. Huge ride from Spencer today, sacrificing his own race to help Jake move up.
The P/1 field was full gas from the gun, basically single file the whole race. Cayden battled his way to 13th on the day, and the rest of the boys kept fighting.
Time to make up some ground.

Day 3 at Chicago Grit in Winfield and luck was finally on our side. No crashes today and we managed to avoid a few catastrophic moments. The boys rode well together from the Master to the Cat 1s.
David Ross grabbed a 4th place in the masters. Spencer grabbed 5th on the day, with Jake coming home 9th to hold onto a top-4 spot in the Omnium.
After yesterday’s bad luck, the P/1 boys bounced back. They stayed together, followed the right moves, and avoided a big pileup with 7 to go. Then in the sprint, a chain and derailleur flew off another bike right in front of Cayden. He had to slam on the brakes to avoid going down, costing him a few spots at the line, but he still moved up a spot in the overall. Onto the next one.

Day 2 of Chicago Grit wasn’t our day. @nathan_walshy went down in the Cat 2 race, but @jake.kucik battled through for 7th and held onto 4th in the omnium. The P/1/2 race brought more bad luck as the smoke rolled back in. Monk and Cayden both hit the deck, lost some skin, but still fought to the line for top-15 finishes. Dust ourselves off and get ready for Day 3.

Trading race numbers for some adventure miles. Loaded the @yoeleo R12 up and ready to explore.
Hot and steamy day at @elmhurstcyclingclassic. We had @ddrow27 with a 3rd on the day in the Masters 40+.
In the P12 field our goal was to win the race and hold the overall. We were able kept the jersey on @monk1122 however lost a few points. @cayden_whitehill finished the day off with a solid 3rd place. The guys road well as a team. Now onto Cobb Park.

@af_cyclingclassic this past weekend racing against some of the best criterium racers in the world. There were definitely some ups and downs throughout the weekend, but it was an opportunity of a lifetime for our riders. Results may not tell the whole story, but coming away with a Top 15 and Top 20 against a field stacked with some of the fastest crit racers on the planet is something to be proud of. Thanks Rob for the invite and putting this on and special thanks to our sponsor @leidosinc could not have made it possible without you!

Sunday at Fat & Skinny Fest was a rough one.
Crashes everywhere all day. Broken wheels, bodies hitting the ground… just chaos. Monk made the move that got up the road early, and as they were getting close to lapping the field, Jake did a great job patrolling the front while Cole and Shane waited to bring Monk back up once he got the free lap. Within a lap the boys had him right back where he needed to be.
One rider slipped away late and with our numbers down from all the crashes, we played the waiting game and rolled in for 3rd on the day. That was enough though for Monk to lock up the overall and bring home the Midwest Cup leaders jersey until the next round.
Not only did we take over the overall but Nathan threw down in the 3s to take the W. This gave him enough points to get his upgrade. Welcome to the big leagues.
Also huge thanks to the Chapman family for letting us crash with them this weekend. Really cool seeing how much this relationship has grown over the years and watching Dax and Wren grow up. They’re definitely family to us. ❤️

Saturday’s road race at @fatandskinnytirefest was a brutal one agressive racing from the start. Hot, muggy, and crosswinds made for tough day on the road. Near 1/2 way @theo372 had to abandon the race as someone took out his rear wheel, the race started to heat up as mid race points were on the line.
Monk grabbed the mid-race points sprint, and after one rider got up the road, we made the call to focus on the field sprint. Sitting patient just off the FIB train, the boys launched Monk perfectly to take the sprint.
That was enough to tie on points and put us in the overall leaders jersey for both Fat & Skinny Fest and @midwest_cup . 🏆 to top it off we celebrated with our Host family. A pool party and ice cream for Craig’s and Nicks birthday @krkirkendall .

A great showing at the Derby City Omnium.
Day one: Was packed with aggressive racing from the boys. Craig launched a late-race flyer and was caught with two laps to go, setting us up for a field sprint.
The leadout was executed perfectly, but an unfortunate unclip in the sprint for Monk cost us the win. Still holding on for second. Cayden and Jake finished just a few spots behind to round out a strong team performance.
Day two: Brought more aggressive racing on a tough course. Multiple moves looked promising but were eventually brought back. With four laps to go, Cayden went up the road with an amazing effort, Cayden dropped the rest of the break to take the gambler’s prime and ride it in solo for the Win!
The field nearly caught the final riders up the road, but a perfectly timed sprint Monk powered through to win the field sprint for 3rd, while Jake rounded out the top 10 with 9th on the day.
Strong racing all weekend the team came away with a win, multiple podiums, and 2nd overall.
A strong showing from El Presidente.
Day 1 he took 2nd in the 60+ after a fast, hard race, finishing just behind legend and multi-time national and world champion Kent Bostic.
On Day 2, after a tough battle on an extremely demanding course, Steve dug deep to finish 3rd, helping secure 2nd place overall.
